The AoC Sport National Championships brings together nearly 1,700 students from colleges across the UK to compete at the highest level of college sport. I was commissioned by Loughborough College to photograph their students, who proudly represented the East Midlands region.

Why I Love This Work

Sport is movement, emotion, teamwork – and I thrive on capturing those fleeting moments of intensity, focus, and celebration. I specialise in photographing people, and sporting events like this push my ability to anticipate and frame human energy at its peak.

A Creative Brief with a Competitive Edge

The brief was to capture compelling action shots of each sport taking place throughout the day. These images were to be used as hero visuals in Loughborough College's sports department, as well as across their website, prospectus, and marketing materials.

With multiple sports happening simultaneously, the challenge was both logistical and creative – a fast-paced environment where timing, anticipation, and instinct are crucial. This is where years of professional experience behind the camera make the difference.

World-Class Location, Dynamic Storytelling

The event took place across three state-of-the-art sporting venues at the University of Nottingham, each offering excellent backdrops and world-class facilities. From indoor courts to athletics tracks and outdoor fields, I worked across all three sites to ensure nothing was missed.
